FAQs
What is the EoD File?

The EoD File is a daily CSV file delivered via SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) that contains a complete record of a client trading activity for the day.

This includes:

  • all orders (inserts, updates and cancels)
  • executed trades

It is similar to the (MAR) Surveillance File but it contains only private events and no public or market data.

What problem does the EoD File solve?

The EoD File is a means of capturing their trading activity. This is a critical business need for the following reasons:

  • Back-Office Reconciliation: They need to match the trades recorded in their internal systems with what actually happened on the market to ensure accuracy.
  • P&L and Risk Reporting: Accurate, daily data is the foundation for calculating their profit & loss and running internal risk assessments.
  • Operational Record-Keeping: It provides a simple, reliable “source of truth” for their daily operations.

We provide the Joule Direct (JD) API as the solution to this, but smaller firms or those with limited technical resources struggle with the complexity of the JD API. The EoD file provides a simpler alternative to this.

What are the benefits of the EoD File?
  • Content: Contains private order and trade events for a specific client.
  • Format: Standard Comma-Separated Values (CSV).
  • Data Fields: Contains the same set of trade, order, and reference data fields as our Surveillance File.
  • Delivery: Automatically dropped into a client’s designated SFTP folder. at the end of each trading day.
Why is a CSV file a better solution for this segment of clients?

A CSV file provides useful data fast because it’s simple and ready to use right away. You don’t need a tech team; anyone who knows Excel can open it and start working with the data. It also works easily with almost any other system, and it’s inexpensive since you don’t need to set up complex software or connections.

What are the key features of the EoD File?

The EoD File is a daily file made just for one client. It lists all their orders and trades for the day in a simple CSV format (like an Excel sheet). It includes the same details as the Surveillance File and is automatically sent to the client’s secure online folder (SFTP) at the end of each trading day.
